In order to receive your premium certificate or diploma, you must have your belt rank verified by your instructor. Verification is a critical step in the process because it protects the integrity of our team. Your instructor has already been notified by us automatically but you can let him or her know to help speed up the process in case they miss our email. Just let them know to go to the School Owner Dashboard to verify your belt rank, and that’s it!

GB Foundations:

The GB Foundations Program or ICP 2019 must be completed before a certificate or diploma will be issued and shipped. The official Gracie Barra document will contain the names and signatures of the founder of Gracie Barra and your instructor’s name, and of course your name. It is important for Gracie Barra that all three people are aligned with our team’s mission, values, and legacy. When you’re done we will be notified automatically and you can check back here when it’s done.

GB Global ID:

The GB Global ID was created to represent your legacy in Gracie Barra. One day there will be tens of thousands of GB team members holding the same rank as you but there will only be one GB Global ID list. Your GB Global ID number identifies your legacy inside GB and will allow you to trace your history in GB. When we launched the GB Global ID in 2019 the top 2,000 numbers were reserved for black belts as a sign of gratitude for their great commitment to ensuring a positive culture of teamwork and support that we all enjoy today. Now the GB Global ID is created chronologically based on when a student creates their GB Online account.

Instructor:

Your instructor’s name will be included on your certificate or diploma to verify your bank rank and establish your lineage in addition to the founder of Gracie Barra’s name and signature, Master Carlos Gracie Jr. If the instructor listed above is incorrect, click the update signing instructor link in the status box above.

Background check:

Everyone ordering the Belt Rank Certificate / Diploma that are not an ICP certified instructor (only completed GB Foundations program) needs to complete and pass the background check. The only background check accepted is the one issued by Sterling Talent Solutions.

The background check is one more action taken by Gracie Barra in an effort to increase the safety of GB students and our commitment to excellence.

What is the cost for the background check?

For residents of the United States or instructors registering under a GB School in the United States the fee for the background check is $19.50 USD and it is paid directly to Sterling Talent Solutions. If there is a validated criminal record found in the following states there will be an additional fee added to the original $19.50 USD that the applicant will be responsible for paying. These states are Maine ($20), Vermont ($30), and New York ($65) and it is paid directly to Sterling Talent Solutions. Sterling Talent Solutions is responsible for running the tests and informing Gracie Barra about the results.

For residents of Canada or instructors registering under a GB School in Canada the fee for the background check is $25 CDN and it is paid directly to Sterling Talent Solutions. Sterling Talent Solutions is responsible for running the tests and informing Gracie Barra about the results

For residents outside the United States and Canada or instructors registering under a GB School outside the United States and Canada the fee for the background check is $19.99 USD and paid directly to Sterling Talent Solutions. Sterling Talent Solutions is responsible for running the tests and informing Gracie Barra of the results.

Background check process may take up to 5 business days.

What are the disqualifications based on the background check?

A person should be disqualified and prohibited from serving as a Gracie Barra certified instructor if the person has been found guilty of the following crimes:

For purposes of this policy; Guilty shall mean that a person was found guilty following a trial, entered a guilty plea, entered a no contest plea accompanied by a court finding of guilt (regardless of adjudication), or received court directed programs in lieu of conviction.

SEX OFFENSES

• All Sex Offenses – Regardless of the amount of time since offense.

Examples include: child molestation, rape, sexual assault, sexual battery, sodomy, prostitution, solicitation, indecent exposure, etc.

FELONIES OR FEDERAL OFFENCES

• All Felony or Federal Violence – Regardless of the amount of time since the offense.

Examples include: murder, manslaughter, aggravated assault, kidnapping, robbery, aggravated burglary, etc.

• All Felony or Federal offenses other than violence or sex within the past 5 years.

Examples include: drug offenses, theft, embezzlement, fraud, child endangerment, etc.

PENDING CASES

• Individuals found to have pending court cases for any of the disqualifying offenses will be disqualified. If the disposition of the pending case does not meet the criteria for the disqualification as listed above, the individual would then be cleared and reinstated.

How the process works:

Check your profile rank: your belt rank certificate / diploma will be printed according to your profile belt rank;
Inform your complete address;
Pre-requisite: you need to have completed the last full ICP edition or GB Foundations program;
Inform your promotion date;
Select the Professor who promoted you: the Professor you select will be the certificate signer and will have to verify your belt rank within the system (and it is ok if your Professor profile school is not the same as yours);
Finalize the order: after complete all steps,the system will release a Finalize button so you can inform us your order is ready to be sent to the printer;
Complete the Background check (for non ICP certified instructors).
