Many intermediate students say that they are more comfortable and stable from side control than from the Top Mount position. However, once you learn how to control the position the Mount is a very dangerous submission position for your opponent. Prof. Victor will show us some techniques for capitalizing on the Mount.
To start the video, Prof. Victor has achieved the Top Mount but the opponent is tightly defending and not making any mistakes offering an easy submission. Prof. Victor must find a way to break down the opponent's defense in order to get a submission.
This technique is all about Prof. Victor using his superior leverage from Top Mount to use his bodyweight to walk the oponent's arm up and away from the defensive position near his side. Even though the opponent knows it's coming, he can not stop Prof. Victor's superior leverage.

Important detail: Prof. Victor sets up his Ezekiel choke by inserting the choking hand FIRST and then putting his fingers inside his sleeve after. If he puts the fingers in the sleeve first, he telegraphs his intentions to the opponent.
Common mistake: Prof. Victor stresses that we must be proactive in the mount and not allow our opponent to be comfortable and wait to see what our opponent is going to do. Once the opponent has begun their escape, we are already behind. Prof. Victor pressures forward with his upper body to lift the arms of the opponent.
